Frequently Asked Questions

What is a feral dog ?

A feral dog is a dog that was born in the wild, or has lived away from humans long enough that it has forgotten human contact.
Often the puppies we take were born under an abandoned house, near people so that they can find food. The only contact they have with humans is when Animal Control traps them, puts them in a truck, and drives them to the shelter.

You work with a "high-kill" shelter ?

Yes , our dogs come from a high-kill shelter. Most counties have a shelter that is responsible for taking any dog or cat that is captured or seized by animal control, or is surrendered or dumped by it's owner. These shelters cannot possibly find new homes for all of these animals, and so some are euthanized.

Some rescue groups advertise that they are "no-kill" shelters. That is because they only take the animals they choose. Most of these animals come from the county shelter. The two types work together, but it should not be assumed that one is "good" and the other is "bad".
