The Tools of Repair

Repair of anything requires certain tools. I have found a few that work:
Time
Damaged dogs can not be fixed on your schedule. They must be allowed to heal in their own time. This means that the dog may not respond to you for several days. You need to visit many times in the course of each day, even if it is for just a minute, allowing him to choose when he is ready to respond.
Food
Eating food out of your hand will probably be the first positive response you will see from your feral dog.
A Stable Pack
Deshi is our male Husky. His job is to teach the new dogs how to be a dog in a human world. Scooby and Jacqui support him in play. A dog that is fearful of people can relax in the company of a calm dog. Then they will find it safe to come near to the humans.
